ABOUT SCOTTY BROWN
I grew up outside of St. Louis, Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri in 1986 with a Fish & Wildlife degree. I worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for 21 years as a Fisheries Biologist, Project Leader/Lab Administrator and Administrator for agency Everglades Research and Policy the last four years of my tenure. In 2007 I retired from the state and started my own fish and wildlife consulting company Southern Sportsman Aquatics & Land Management. We started with one client in Georgia and now have almost 40 clients in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. Besides working with private ranch, plantation, and cooperate owners we work with private companies on public lands and water assessing environmental impacts reporting our findings to state and federal governments. I have been lucky to be part of the Outdoors Show for over 10 years.
I fresh and saltwater fish, snook being my favorite target, but a close second is fishing small ponds for bass, bream and catfish. I also enjoy hunting deer, hogs, waterfowl, turkey, dove, quail, rabbit and an occasional squirrel. I prefer to use a bow, but sometimes resort to a gun, especially if my goal is to remove several does in a short period of time. I have trained and bred Labradors for over 20 years and have produced some very fine litters of hunting partners. I have been a Ducks Unlimited Committee member for over 15 years and was the Chairman for Allen, Texas DU from 2008-2010 earning growth awards every year and receiving both State & National recognition with the Chapter. I am also members of the National Wild Turkey Federation, and Quality Deer Management Association. I get the most pleasure of hunting and fishing with our son Josh. I began taking him deer hunting and fishing when he was about five and he is now consumed with the outdoors as I was at his age and still am.
