Hello all. I posted this on the Life Member forum section of North American Hunting Club and I thought I would post it here as well. Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Just became a Life Member after a 5 year absence from the Club. I'm not really here for the free stuff or to test a bunch of products hoping to keep them. I'm here to meet like minded people and learn the sport of hunting. You see...I became interested in hunting at the age of 18, am now 41. I didn't have any family members who hunted nor knew anyone who hunted. So, I bought guns over the years and tought myself how to shoot. Met a few people here and there at the ranges but never got to know them much.

Midway through college, I transferred to a college in TX where I met a lot of hunters. I became friendly with some who took me squirrel hunting each season...what a blast! Come time for deer season, their family/relatives came first and got the nod to go deer hunting with them. I completely understood and appreciated the chance to squirrel hunt at all. Well. this really got me interested in hunting.

Since leaving college, 1990, I've been on a few day hunts for hogs and exotics, which are fun but don't really teach me much about deer hunting.

By being here, I hope to learn more about the sport of hunting, gain experience by finding places to hunt and/or people to "show me the way" via pointers/tips, etc. I have a 2 year old son, a 4 year old son and a third son on the way. I would really like to have the experience I need when they get older to give them what I didn't have...an upbringing in a family who enjoys and shares the outdoors through hunting and shooting.

If anyone knows of outfitters who specialize in management deer hunts and may allow the taking of a doe, I'd appreciate the info. A trophy deer hunt would be fun, but that's not what I'm after right now. I'd like to take the money it would cost on 1 trophy hunt and be able to use it on maybe 3 or 4 hunts during the season. Again, hunting experience and frequent repetition are what I'm after. A trophy can come later...if I'm lucky enough. I guess you could call me a meat hunter, for now.

Any feedback or comments on my thoughts would be appreciated. Glad to be here and I look forward to meeting a lot of new people.

Thank you,

Brian
